This 55-hour certification program is ideal for aspiring instructors and fitness professionals looking to develop a strong foundation in Mat Pilates. The training offers in-depth instruction on Pilates principles, foundation exercises, basic to intermediate-level mat exercises, functional anatomy, effective cueing, class sequencing, and modifications for various populations. It also includes practical teaching experience to build confidence and skill. No prior Pilates experience is required. Course Breakdown
1. Pilates Principles & History – 3 hours
- Origins and philosophy of Joseph Pilates
- The six classical Pilates principles (Breath, Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision, Flow)
- Contemporary vs Classical Pilates styles
2. Anatomy & Movement Fundamentals – 7 hours
- Overview of key muscle groups and joint movements
- Core anatomy: spine, pelvis, abdominals
- Breathing mechanics and posture analysis
- Neutral spine, pelvic stability, and scapular alignment
3. Mat Pilates Exercise Technique – 18 hours
- Step-by-step breakdown of basic to intermediate mat exercises
- Correct alignment, breathing, modifications, and contraindications
- Use of small props (e.g., Pilates ring, ball, bands – optional)
4. Class Sequencing & Programming – 6 hours
- Structuring a balanced class: warm-up, main series, and cool-down
- Goal-based class planning (strength, flexibility, core focus, rehab, etc.)
- Progression and regression strategies
5. Teaching Methodology – 8 hours
- Verbal cueing and tactile cueing
- Demonstration and correction techniques
- Client communication and motivation
- Working with different populations (beginners, prenatal, seniors, etc.)
6. Practice Teaching & Peer Teaching – 8 hours
- Practice teaching in pairs or small groups
- Observation and constructive feedback
- Teaching full-length classes with peer review
7. Assessments & Review – 5 hours
- Practical and written assessments
- Q&A and review of key concepts
